Scenarios

One of the most powerful features of cloudstep is its ability to arrange model Elements into Scenarios.  A Scenario is a tag that can be used to group Applications, Implementations, Infrastructure and Costs together.

  • If an Element is not associated with any Scenarios then it means that it is in all scenarios.
  • An Element can be associated with several Scenarios
  • Changing the Scenario associated with an Element will cause cloudstep to recalculate that Element.
  • Deleting a Scenario leaves all the Elements it is attached to intact.

Active Scenarios

When a scenario is "active" it means that anywhere you see financial information, timeline information or relationships, the view will be altered to show you information from the point of view of that scenario.

You can select active scenarios using the Scenario dropdown from the top right of the navigation toolbar.

Associating Elements with a Scenario

There are two ways to do this:

  1. Visit the Explorer for the Element and click on the Edit tab.  From here you can select the Scenarios in the form and hit Submit.
  2. Visit the Scenario Explorer then find Elements using the Browser.  Drag them onto the Scenario to associate them.

Removing Elements from a Scenario
